Rethink Your Routine: Why Your Soap Choice Matters
Share
In a world where we’re paying closer attention to the food we eat, the materials we use, and the products we bring into our homes, one conversation that’s often overlooked is about the ingredients in our soap.
We’ve made it a goal over the last year or so to make small, intentional changes to our lifestyle and home. Whether it’s ditching plastic cutting boards for wood, opting for organic produce, or scrutinizing food labels—why not do the same for the products we wash our skin with every day?
One big shift in our home was eliminating plastic pump soap bottles entirely. It wasn’t just about reducing waste—it was also about teaching our kids new habits. Transitioning them to bar soap for hand washing took some patience (and plenty of reminders!), but now it’s second nature. What once felt like an inconvenience became an easy, everyday swap that keeps unnecessary plastic out of our home. Small changes like this add up, and we’ve realized that sustainability starts with simple, mindful choices.
Your skin absorbs so much of what you put on it. Commercially made soaps often contain synthetic detergents, harsh chemicals, and artificial fragrances that may do more harm than good. Just like with food, those “extras” can build up over time, and you might not even realize the impact they’re having.
Soap should be simple.
It should be made with ingredients you can recognize…like olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, etc. Ingredients that nourish, rather than harm. Because what wash your body with matters just as much as what you put in it.
So, next time you’re reaching for a bar of soap (or liquid soap), take a moment to think about what’s inside. It’s a small choice that makes a big difference—for your skin, your health, and the earth. If you haven’t tried natural bar soap yet, we’d love for you to experience the difference.
